When the temperature drops, many natural hair women take the time to protect their tresses. The dry cold weather can have a negative effect on natural hair. Increased dryness= breakage. Once we enter the months of November and December, many of us natural hair women are thinking about what protective cute protective hair styles to try. Here you you find some of protective styles to try this fall and winter to keep your natural hair healthy, moisturized and retaining length. Box Braids is a popular protective style that looks great on pretty much every one. Box braids can be styled many different ways. You have many styles within one protective style. Make it more interesting by using colored braiding hair, copper, blonde and burgandy.

Marley twists, especially when done with kinky texture can be a beautiful natural looking protective style. The benefit of the larger twist is the installation and the take down time. With the kinky hair texture it looks like you twisted your own hair. Smaller twists look like mini twists with your own hair. Chunky twists with braiding hair or with your natural hair that stays in for 2-4 weeks considered a protective style.

Also smaller twists with braiding hair is senegalese twists is another great twists option. Mini twists with your natural hair not adding any braiding hair is great and economical, you don’t have to pay for someone to install if you don’t want to or buy hair. All twists: Senegalese twists, Marley twists, mini twists, chunky twists are all great options for protective styles this fall and winter.

Not only twists are a great protective style to protect our natural hair through fall and winter, it is a great option for vacation ( when we are able to go on a Caribbean/ tropical vacation).

FAUX LOC PROTECTIVE HAIR STYLE

Faux Locs similar to Marley twists are a great option to give your hair a break and give yourself a break from styling your hair. Every woman with natural hair as it gets longer it is more time consuming. We love are natural hair, when it comes to wash day, don’t love it so much. This makes faux locs one of the popular protective hair stlyles.

Faux locs are beautiful, easy to maintain and can be styled into an updo for an elegant style and also can be styles casually.

CORN ROWS/FLAT TWISTS

Corn rows and flat twists are a great option for a protective style. If you tie you hair at night and don’t scratch too much it can last a good amount off time. Flat twist and corn rows into a bun is an elegant option for a protective style. Great for the office and will keep intact if you exercise often.

Wigs and weaves are another protective style option. However it is important to take care of your hair under the wig or the weave. We are tempted to forget about our natural hair under the weave because we don’t have to do as much work to style and take care of the weave. Wigs are great because of the option of removing the wig to wash and moisturize your hair. When that is done, it is a true protective style, because your hair is protected and not forgotten.
